Asian Conical Hat
These hats go by various names on this side of the Pacific Ocean. Some call them Coolie Hats (but we think this is pejorative), others call them Chinese Fisherman Hats (but we think this is too narrow and limiting). The fact is that this very functional hat is worn by both men and women in many different Asian countries. This particular example comes from Vietnam. When we were there buying our pith helmets (we are also PITHHELMETS.COM), we observed this light and simple hat being worn for both sun and rain protection. This simply is very good headgear. Garden shops should carry these. At times, this style even shows up on the fashion runways (true!). Color: Natural as pictured. Size: One-size with scarf to stabalize on the head.

This straw hat is made by hand in a village in northern Vietnam. The people, as a cottage industry, make various straw products when not busy with subsistence farming and other livelihoods.
